A founder raises a round, hires 28 people before they have product-market fit, burns through runway trying to brute-force growth via headcount, then lays off 20 employees six months later when the board asks why CAC is high and pipeline is dry.
The root cause was the same: the founder had no authority in their market. No one knew their name, so one trusted their perspective. Investors saw a product and customers saw just a another logo. It became difficult to raise the next round or attract great talent.
