Authentication

Overview

Sera keeps authentication simple: sign in with an email address and password, or with your Google account. An optional phone verification step connects your number so Sera can interview you over SMS and voice calls. This guide covers each method and how to manage your sessions.

Sign-in methods

  • Email and password: Create your account with an email address and a password at signup, then use the same credentials on the login page.
  • Google: Choose Google on the login or signup page to authenticate with Google OAuth. No separate password is needed.

Both methods lead to the same workspace; use whichever you prefer.

Phone verification

Verifying your phone number is optional, but it unlocks two of Sera's most convenient interview modes: SMS threads and voice calls. To verify:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Enter your phone number in the phone verification section.
  3. Confirm the verification code Sera sends you.

Verification does one more useful thing: if you were already texting with Sera before creating your account, verifying your number syncs that prior SMS conversation into your workspace, so nothing you told her is lost.

Password reset

If you forget your password, use the reset link on the login page. Sera sends a reset email to the address on your account. If you signed up with Google, you do not have a Sera password — just continue with Google.

Sessions and signing out

Sessions are per-browser: signing in on your laptop does not sign you in on your phone, and signing out in one browser leaves other sessions untouched. To sign out, open the account menu and choose sign out.

Connected channel authentication

Your publishing channels — LinkedIn, X, and others — authenticate separately through OAuth on the Connectors page. Those connections can be revoked at any time from Connectors without affecting your Sera login. See the Integrations guide for details.
